Blog 26
Welcome to Blog 26!  It was a big week for us at VJM!  We hosted about 250 people at our Open House on Thursday night.  Thank you to all the parents who came out to meet us and check out their new school for next year!

Our incoming sevens visited during the day.  They had a great time touring all the option classes and seeing the layout of their junior high school.  It was so much fun to meet them and get to know them a little.  We are pleased to do whatever we can to help them feel comfortable with the transition to junior high school.  VJM is Simply the Best For the World and we believe that VJM is Simply the Best for Your Child!  We are thrilled to welcome our new students.  The excitement at Open House was wonderful.  Thank you to the many current VJM students who took the time to come to Open House and meet the new parents and students.

Some of our grade six students could not attend the Open House as they were busy with the Confirmation Meeting at HFP.  We are hosting another night for those students on Wednesday, March 23 from 7:00 - 8:00 pm.  This way, students can hear what we have to say and tour their parents around the school so that they can see all the great choices that our school offers.
If you know of anyone who would like to come out and meet Mr. Pedersen, Mrs. Lajoie and myself, please let them know we will be available from 7 - 8 on the 23rd.

Our San Francisco Art Trip group is almost ready to hit the hills.  They have been hill training just so they can be prepared for the exertion required to climb the streets of San Fran.

We were the happy host to a Remote Control Car specialist presentation.  Our students in the RC Club and anyone else interested were invited to listen to an awesome presentation on the RC world.  Many thanks Mr. Hauch for doing this for us.  We are very blessed to have parents that are willing to share their expertise.

On Friday afternoon, the RC Club enjoyed an hour of racing around the gym.  Hopefully, they will be able to get outside one day.

Our Badminton teams are being formed through tryouts after school.  Our Journal Games team took third in the city on Saturday evening.  Thanks to the coaches who helped them through the training.  Mr. Clayton, Mr. Falk and Mrs. Lajoie all had a hand in their coaching.

SACHS was in the school explaining the registration process to our grade nines.  It was great information for our students so that they may be able to make informed decisions about the next level of schooling.

We had a very unfortunate incident this week that involved three young ladies who chose to be violent with each other.  This has not happened in many many years at our school.  Harsh discipline was handed out but we must work hard to re-establish our fine reputation with the business owners behind our school.  Two grade nine young men acted as ambassadors and visited the businesses to let them know that we do not tolerate this behavior and that fighting is not the VJM way.  We were most grateful to these young men as they stepped in and stopped the fighting.  THAT is the VJM way.

Please be aware that we treat this type of display with very serious consequences.  We will notify the police if needed and we encourage parents to do the same.  Be sure to occasionally check your child's phone for inappropriate video or pictures.

Report Cards go home on Monday and please come out to discuss your child's progress at our Parent Teacher Interview night on Thursday, March 24 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm.

Please remember that there is no school on Friday, March 25.  The following week is Spring Break.  I will not be sending a Blog out again until the week we are back from Spring Break.
I wish you and your family all the love and blessings that God has to offer.
As we go through our Lenten Journey, remember to pray for our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering at this time.

We will be having a Red Cross Fundraiser for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.  Send in any extra change that you can spare.

Blessings,
Lydia

Loving Father, as You transform us in Lent, help us to love others as You have first loved us.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen
